HAZMAT Identification MADE EASY
was designed with law enforcement
and other emergency first responders in mind. Knowing that during a
hazardous materials incident, things evolve rapidly and when you arrive on
scene, you need the correct information to deal with the incident quickly. This software product makes it easy to identify hazardous materials being transported in road trailers and rail cars and to know what action(s) to take to protect the life of the emergency first responder and the lives of the surrounding public. Simply read the number on the placard, enter it into the specified field or select it from a standard drop down list and press ENTER or click Lookup. Immediately, the appropriate ERG2004 guide is presented with the Potential Hazards, Public Safety and Emergency Response sections all on one screen. If a placard number is not available, you can get the guide information either by identifying the placard design, knowing the material(s) name or by visibly identifying the road trailer, or rail car. HAZMAT Identification MADE EASY incorporates a very easy and intuitive user interface. Almost everyone who uses it has never looked at the users manual. No more thumbing through several sections of the ERG2004 book to find the information you need. Now, all the information is just a POINT AND CLICK AWAY!
With the continuing concerns and possibility of another terrorist attack in our great country, Public Safety Technologies, Inc. has developed a Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) section for HAZMAT Identification MADE EASY! Our goal was to create a database of the most likely chemical agents that terrorists would be able to obtain and use in an attack. There are literally thousands of chemical agents that could be used in such an attack. Understanding this, Public Safety Technologies, Inc. goal was to create a database containing those chemical agents that produce immediate to slightly delayed effects/symptoms, so that the emergency first responder can possibly identify the chemical agent(s) involved based on what they are observing. A database full of chemical agents that have delayed effects/symptoms of 24 hours or longer is not particularly useful for the emergency first responder. For chemical agents that cause delayed effects/symptoms of 24 hours or longer, a Hazmat Response Team with specialized equipment would be needed to positively identify the specific chemical agent(s) involved. In either case, a Hazmat Response Team would be needed. Our goal is to give those first on scene, the emergency first responders, a means to help identify a chemical agent(s) in case of a WMD incident to help safeguard themselves and others until such units could arrive on scene. The WMD section of HAZMAT Identification MADE EASY gives you several ways to possible identify a chemical agent in a WMD incident. If the agent is known, simply select the agent from a drop down list and press ENTER or click Lookup and you will be taken to the correct guide information. If the agent is unknown, you can enter in the odor, appearance, or symptoms, or use all three in combination to narrow down the possibilities or even identify a specific agent. Our database contains: ♦Blister Agents/Vesicants ♦Blood Agents ♦Choking Agents ♦Nerve Agents ♦Caustics (Acids) ♦Organic Solvents ♦Long-Acting Anticoagulants ♦Toxic Alcohols ♦Riot Control Agents/Tear Gas ♦Metals and ♦Biotoxins It is our hope at Public Safety Technologies, Inc., that this section of our software will never have to be used. However, it is available in case the unthinkable ever happens.
